TORONTO, Nov. 30, 2015 -- Sobeys Inc. executives sat for a Q&A session with Food & Consumer Products of Canada (FCPC) to highlight their go-to-market strategy.
Dale MacDonald, Senior Vice President, National Procurement, Sobeys Inc. began the morning session with an overview of Sobeys' policies aimed at removing complexities and creating greater transparency between vendors and the retailer.
MacDonald was then joined by Marc Poulin, President & CEO, Sobeys Inc. and Nancy Croitoru, President & CEO, FCPC for an open and candid Q&A period.
"Enhancing vendor relations is ultimately good for the consumer," Poulin stated as he addressed the changes Sobeys Inc. is making to better align with vendor and customer needs.
One of their tactics will be to focus more on lower everyday pricing, leveraging their breadth of assortment adding value to all brands. "We are not going to be successful if price alone is the only factor, we need to bring brand loyalty back into the equation," said Poulin.
MacDonald shared Sobeys' goal of targeting a more health conscious customer, and stated they plan to, "Shift promotions to that consumer – but not at the cost of other products."
The Trade Talks Breakfast gave attendees an opportunity to hear the strategies and policies that will guide vendor relations and the overall business in the near future.
