Toronto - Trust and working together for mutual benefit was the key theme highlighted by senior Loblaw Companies Limited (LCL) executives at FCPC’s Trade Talks Breakfast.
Members heard from LCL's Garry Senecal, President, Market Division, Andrew Iacobucci, President, Discount Division, Mike Venton, SVP, No-Frills & National Produce Procurement and Grant Froese, Chief Operating Officer who each candidly answered questions posed by FCPC President & CEO, Nancy Croitoru for more than one-hour.
There were a wide range of important industry topics raised, for example, relationships with vendors, changing store formats and sizes, loyalty programs, fees, e-commerce, innovation, joint business planning and the changing consumer landscape.
Froese said LCL is committed to a renewed culture of transparency and continuing to focus on fostering trust and partnership with suppliers. He said for the past years, LCL has been building a world-class supply chain which continues to innovate.
“There is a strong commitment to building our business together and working towards each other’s strategies,” Froese said.
The audience was told some of the major trends and opportunities for growth include healthy living and interest in ethnic food.
FCPC recently hosted a member exclusive webinar with LCL about a new digital item level creation tool the retailer is introducing to simplify the process of getting new products on the shelf. As well, Hardeep Kharaud, Vice President, Supply Chain, LCL spoke at FCPC’s Supply Chain symposium about LCL's strategic focus on customer centricity and evolving demographics.
